I need to know if there are supposed to be more than two bars to hold the propane tanks on a 1977 Ramada. I have two tanks. The problem arose this past weekend when I turned off of the highway and one of the tanks rolled off and I was dragging. If we did not have the bungee cords on it we may not have noticed that it fell off. It also happened on the way back. Thank God I had my husband disconnect the gas line from the tank. Is there a T- Bar that should come up between the two tanks. He had checked before we left to make sure that the bar was tight on the tanks. Help Margie 1977 Ramada The Green Machine

Pic of t-bar. We don't like this type as we knew too many folks loose tanks just like you did. We use "hooks" for single tanks. Most we know with T-Bar have the single "hook" on outside of tanks (hook/tank/tbar/tank/hook). We like to be able to remove one tank as we use 20 lp for lp grill. Get the ppl catalog (really stag-parkway) it's free and good reference book. Most of your small local RV parts places use this catalog. Stag-parkway just put the Dealers names on the covers.

I have had the same problem. Once my tank, which was attached to the hose, was dragged along the highway at 70 mph!! icon_eek.gif (thankfully not for very long. The second time, the second tank came loose as we were travelling on a bumpy road. When I looked at the new setups, I discovered that they have a lip to hold the bottles in place, that seemed to be missing on my 77. I took some straight steel, drilled two holes, bent it, and bolted each bottle to the tray. (I only drilled two holes in the tray, as there were already holes in the metal base ring of each propane bottle. So far it has kept the propane bottles in place. I guess that a new tray that has the lip would be a more elegant solution, but I only spent a few dollars for this solution.
