Are there any organized camping events for Apache owners in Northern California? We are about 1 to 2 months from being ready to go camping in our '75 Apache Royal. We have some cosmetic restoration we want to complete before our first trip, so that we don't blow it off because we can use the Apache without doing the work. Once we have finished the restoration work, we would enjoy participating in camping trips with other Apache owners. Beth '67 Ralph '60 Mary '95 '75 Apache Royal '90 Toyota V6 SR5 Xtracab Pickup

There was a discussion a couple of months ago about a West Coast roundup. That probably won't happen until 2004, but there did seem to be quite a bit of interest. I think the title of the thread was "West Coast Roundup" if you want to look for it. I think the postings were in May or June if that helps your search. I'm busy organinzing other non-Apache events, but if you were to organize an Apache camping trip for some weekend in October or so, I might be able to join you. There are at least a couple of other Northern California Apache owners on this list. Let me know if you would like to set something up. It doesn't have to be anything too complicated, just pick a date and a place and see who else can join in.

Just so it's not the first weekend in October, I work at church on that Sunday. Basic electric/water hookups would be good too, ok?? Do you trapshoot by any chance, there's a nice gun club by Lincoln and they have camping spots for shooters, $5 a night (I think), but only an electric hookup and the pottie/shower is like, one for the guys, one for the girls. Let me know! _________________ Ruth 3 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat '72 Apache Ranger '64 Apache Chief Nothern California

October may be a bit too soon for us to do a group trip. The restoration of our Apache is going much quicker than we expected when we started looking for an Apache. We have painted the tongue, bumper and wheel rims, purchased propane tanks, replaced the greese seals, repacked the wheel bearings, replaced all the windows with Lexan, removed the slip cover the previous owners put on (original upolstery is in excellent condition) and washed all the curtains since purchasing it on Aug 9th. We are planning on replacing the window screens, repairing the cracks in the plastic, purchasing a battery, cleaning the interior and washing and waxing the exterior. We are looking at making our first trip in the Apache in mid September. We will need a few trips to get used to camping as a family before going on a group camping trip. I think we will be ready for a group camping trips starting in December or January. Beth '67 Ralph '60 Mary '95 '75 Apache Royal '90 Toyota SR5 V6 Xtracab Pickup

During the rainy season???

Well, ya know, nothing is going on in Jan anyway! I'll bring the extra large tarp, rope and stakes, so if my baby leaks, it won't matter. Isn't there a holiday in Jan??? MLK b-day? I have every other Friday off, maybe I'll get lucky and have a four day weekend. Electric hookups, ok? I'll keep the coffee pot on.

I am ready to start planning a Northern California event (you don't have to live in Northen California to come. I am willing to handle finding a campgroup. I would like a volenteer to help with the agenda (i.e. pot luck). I also need to know which of the following weekends would work for each family: Jan. 16 - 18 Jan. 23 - 24 Feb. 6 - 8 Feb. 13 - 15 Feb. 27 - Mar. 1 Once I have figured out which weekend it will be on, I will post it, get a count of attendees and book a camping ground. I will make sure the camp ground has electric hookups. _________________ Beth '67 Ralph '60 Mary '95 '75 Apache Royal '03 GMC Sierra LSE 1500 Extended Cab

My wife and I would be interested in joining this camping event. I'll check and let you know which weekends would work for us. I should be done with the maintenance on our '74 Royal by then. What area's in Northern California are you thinking of having this event? _________________ Scott & Anita 4 Kids '73 Apache Mesa '74 Apache Royal '86 Ford Bronco

I was thinking in the Napa area, the delta area (i.e. Isleton, Rio Vista) or Clear Lake area. My main concern is to avoid places where it may rain heavily or it may snow. I am open to suggestions. _________________ Beth '67 Ralph '60 Mary '95 '75 Apache Royal '03 GMC Sierra LSE 1500 Extended Cab

It's great to see you guys in California start getting the Apache event together. I lived in the LA area from 1970 to 1977 and then again in San Diego from 1980 to 1985 in the Navy. I have been in on a few Roundups and they are relativly easy to do, almost self sufficiant. Pick the spot, pick the week or weekend and have at it! There is nothing like meeting everyone and seeing the different Apaches. In the great lakes area we now have a group of us that camp every year together, it started at the 1st Canadian Roundup, and it's like family now. So go do it and take lots of pictures!!!!!

I have been thinking of setting up a weekend or something here in the Utah myself. I will look into it more this winter and set something up next spring for doing it.. I think I may have found a good place.. nice.. in the mountains.. and with all kinds of stuff close by. _________________ Me -71 (Jeff) Wife ?? You guys in Cal. are the envy of all of us settling in for the Winter up here in Ontarioso don't rub it in. Tim ius right, just pick a date, a spot, post it on this web, give 1-2 months notice and away you go. Napa is a nice area with all the free wine tasting locations and don't forget to go to see author Jack London's Estate.(Les.Ferris Norwich, Ontario,Canada.) _________________ Apaches are environmentally friendly & leaders of the pack.

In another forum, someone posted the four seasons of California.

Earthquake

Summer

Wildfire

Mudslide

So, we do have four seasons here!! I'll try to have mine all together by Jan/Feb, no promises, I'm going really slowly on some projects. Anyway, I have MLK weekend, Lincoln's B-day and President's Day off. Of course that will be in the midst of the rainy and/or fog season!! (You haven't experienced fog until you've driven in our valley fogs. Drove once for hours on my way to LA in such heavy fog that I couldn't see across to the other side of the freeway. There was a big wreck on the other side, and I couldn't see it! Scary!)
