So I was wondering how far people have gone for their Apaches? I'm leaving Friday afternoon for a 1600 mile round trip for a wonderful looking 73 Mesa. I've waited a year to find this deal, so it should be worth it.

I went about 10 miles to get my eagle, but between the old owner and myself we prob have put on over 100,000 miles. He had decals all over the back of the camper. He hit alot of the states, especially the coast states. We plan to put another 4,000 to 5,000 miles this year. Still with the origional bearings. Grease the bearings for every large trip! you can see if there is any damage, and replace them if needed. The camper has outlasted 2 of my tow vehicles so far.

We drove from Denver, CO to Tulsa, OK to buy our 1st Eagle. Last weekend we drove from Denver, CO to Lincoln, NE to buy the Eagle we're giving to friends.

I think we're addicted at this point!

I drove from Detroit to Gaylord, Mi. to pick up the 74 Ramada I had given to me by a family friend. I have replaced almost everything in it as it sat for almost 5 years. I hope to soon take our first camping trip in this legend. A trip to Michigan Speedway.

I just drove 2442 km round trip ( Halifax to Providence, RI) to get my '85 Cimmaron II although I didn't know the model until I got there! My wife questions my sanity at times.

I also got very lucky and only had to travel across town to get my Apache Mesa. Just dumb luck I guess. icon_lol.gif

River Rat Harry drove from Northern Illinois to Pennsylvania to get his Ramada! I lucked out and found our first in our home town and our second in the town that the River Rat lives in (AFTER he drove all the way to Pennsylvania to get his)!

I was looking for anything within 2000 miles round trip from Salem Oregon. I got lucky and found one in Seattle (500 mile round trip)

We drove from Springfield, Mo. to Witchita Ks. I think it was around 650m or so roundtrip. Still trying to get all the parts for it. But it will hit the road before summer. Greg

We drove about 6000 miles (from south Texas to Seattle area and back) last summer to pick up our 77 Ramada. What a great trip, and a great camper! We already own a 67 Mesa (my Dad was the origianl owner). I have no idea how many miles we have on the 67 Mesa, but is has been all over the country. We are looking forward to doing the same with the 77 Ramada.

A whopping 23 miles, and it's a good thing... I got it from an e-bay auction and I had to have the trailer flat bedded home. It had been sitting in a guy's back yard for over 20 years, the tires were rotten, and there was no telling what condition the bearings were in. The stabilizers were "glued" in place with spider webs and egg sacks. The wiring was flaking and the coupler mechanism was rusted solid. But, hey, give me another month or so, and we'll be camping... I am glad to see there are others who are willing to drive as far as they have to to get their own Apache. We are currently trying to obtain our very first Apache and we will drive to the end of the earth and back to get ours...........so if you are ready to trade up or retire from camping or whatever.............we are waiting........... I can't believe those people who are sooo lucky to get there's from a friend or a family member or who only have to drive across town. I must be living in the wrong part of the country or something. But I am very glad to hear all these great stories. It helps me keep the faith. chris

Chris, Where are you?

If you are in the midwest, e-mail me. I have a line on a Royal that may be available in the Chicago area. It was left at an rv dealer for an estimate and the owner has decided not to fix it. the dealer is on the verge of junking it. It has rodent damage and may have a lift system issue. The dealer may be able to put you in touch with the owner to work out a deal.

We drove from Phoenix to Marquette, MI to pick up my grandfathers 76 Ramada (did not have to pay for it). That was a distance of 2170 miles each way for a total of 4340 miles. I have been camping in this camper since I was 9 years old and it has great sentimental value.
